Butter, honeysuckle and some floral notes in the California mode, with some acid to balance the richness. Not much complexity on the palate and a watery/thin finish.
This is probably the best of the Edna Valley Chardonnays that we’ve managed to find, an area that as a whole doesn’t seem to compete with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grown just a few miles farther south in Santa Barbara/Sta. Rita Hills.
For $50 a bottle, we’ll pass. 4.5/10
