Strawberry, toast, rosewater and chalk on the nose. This still has a lovely fine bead and chalky mouthfeel with rhubarb, strawberry, and toast. Starting to turn more savory than fruit driven. Finishes chalky and simultaneously clean and long. Fully mature for my palate.

Just a gorgeous salmon color with a nose that doesn't wow as much as the palate. just a nice balance of. acidity that integrates great with the deep raspberry flavors. Out of Mag and in a great. zone.

KYD BYO (Koan): Dark red wine that is clearly aged. There is lots of red fruits and a lovely acidity. This has improved a lot since originally tasting it at its release and it is clearly a better wine. Good balance, broad flavors and a solid acidity. It feels like it has reached its peak but it will stay here for at least 4-6 years. Lovely wine!

Let it warm up, give it some air and a Zalto Universal glass, and this bottle was singing! Some reduction then giving way to tons of red fruit. What a delicious rose in the twilight of vigour that’s just fading and generous Burgundian deep berry palate with a background noise of million of finest bubbles. Really taken by this.

(Taittinger Comtes de Champagne ROSE) Taittinger Comtes Dear Friends, Two ends of the spectrum today in sparkling wine - one less than $15 (this morning's Cava) and the other at the top of the pyramid. With the release of Parker's notes this afternoon, 2009 Bordeaux insanity is in full swing and I'll have more commentary on that tomorrow... ...as I pen my thoughts on the Gironde this evening, a deal came through on Champagne that was tough to overlook. A wine that is really coming into its own, I've been quite fond of the 2002 Comtes de Champagne in the past but a recent tasting (courtesy of a dear friend) has coalesced my opinion that this has the chance to be a great example. From a top growing season, if you enjoy the more cutting side of rose', this deceptively reticent wine is packed with finely detailed cut, nuance and mystery. It reminds me of an older style in Champagne with little, if any, noticeable dosage - it acts more like a top, dignified red Burgundy than a heavy-handed rose'. A wine that unfolds over many hours, it is every bit as good as a still wine once the bead dissipates (although the bead is still active after 24 hours). An impressive, feline example of rose' Champagne that covers the palate with tiny bursts of aristocratic gem stones - stones that are scintillating but never forced or out of place: I urge you to look up community notes on this wine as well. An upcoming New Year's treat? ONE SHIPMENT ONLY at this terrific price with perfect provenance: 2002 Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Brut Rose' Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Champ9123

Fresh, complex and balanced. Didn’t seem this old. Much more complex than last bottle. Amazing.
