This is very deep red in colour (tending to purple). On first opening, the nose is cheap red plonk and the palate is not at all pleasant - it almost went straight down the sink.
But after maybe 30 minutes of air it becomes drinkable. The nose becomes a bit less over-ripe, and tannins appear on the palate as the fruit moderates bringing the whole thing a little more into balance with fairly clean acidity. The finish is rather dry and slightly vegetal.
However, this is far from my favourite lambrusco, and even after 30 minutes of air it only reaches "drinkable, just". I was having it with some "antipasti" of cheese, cured sausage, paté and gherkins, but it didn't pair particularly well with that and I can't see what it would work with.
So definitely not a repeat buy for me, but at ~US$11.5 it was worth a try.

PNP into 薄はり葡萄酒器 (“Leaf” day): Medium purplish ruby.
Dark red currants and prunes, florals.
Minerality driven, lightly sparkling. Very fresh. Silky tannins. Good integration here.
93 points.
