  • Possibly a bit beyond its best. One bottle left, I will drink it soon.

  • My contribution to the afternoons frivolities. At nearly 22 years old i knew i was committing vinfanticide and making a mistake by opening it. it was way too young. But Marky W wanted to try it. Think Basket Press on steroids and then with the wrong printed vintage. More like a 2009 than 1999. this was the 4th year of Rockfords SVS program, now defunct. Which leads me onto a story of 1998 and 1999 SVS Hoffman. None of which were released in Australia, for which i found a guy who had 4 dozen he got in Switzerland and had moved back to New Zealand so Two Shoes and I talked him out of the entire lot. Anyway the 99 Pressings was released to Stonewallers and this was one of mine. It was blinded on my BIL - TTS, who struggled with the year as one would. Primal almost. Not much to say other than incredibly typical of big ripe Barossa shiraz from a great vintage like 1999 ( history will prove it is better than Barossa 1998 by the way) but with enough finesse and Rockford stamp on it to know it will go the distance despite it immediately punching you in the face when bringing the glass close to your nose and cursing you with lots of rude words for awakening it from its early slumber in its first 3rd of its life. Stunning but dont touch for at least another 10-15 years.
