Full bodied and inky dark Merlot from northern NY state. Even if it is young open this well ahead of drinking, aerate, decant, or all of the above as it really benefits from a dose of oxygen. Tart and dry on first taste but after an hour it opened up tremendously with powerful fruit of berry, currant, and plum. We were surprised at the transformation even with our bottle only being 4 years since release. There is some nice vanilla and a hint of smoke in the finish too. This pairs well with even the heartiest of food as this is not a shy wine with plenty of tannins and depth to spare.
