From Libournais. Grand Vin, also Bordeaux Superieur.
Deep ruby on the pour into the decanter, at which point I smelled blueberries. Decanted for two hours.
Very well-defined legs / residual sugar on the glass. Aromas of black currant, cherry, slate, and maybe a little rose. Possibly licorice.
Palate: Bold. Dry. Tart cherries and currants, unripe raspberries with medium tannins blanketing, really gripping my tongue, etc. to start, ending with bright minerality. Medium acidity. A little warming on the back of the throat from the alcohol. After an hour, I sensed more ripe and rounded fruit. A very pleasant drinker.
Second glass with homemade medium dish (cast iron) pizza featuring Italian sausage, mushrooms, garlic, Monterey Jack and mozzarella cheese. The acidity of the wine cuts through the bold, fatty flavors of the pizza quite well. Stands up to it nicely.
This one’s a keeper. A tasty, inexpensive Bordeaux which is ready after only 3-4 years. Will buy again.
GRAPE VARIETIES: 79% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc
14.5% ABV.

Cork present. Not exactly corked. Some fruit present, but flawed to the point of of dumping it out.

Acidic, tannic, lacks complexity as typically experienced in the region
