  • Drank alongside 05 Godolphin, Aussie from Barossa tonight. This was full on Bordeaux w funk on nose. Nose with smoke n earthiness some red fruits dominated. Similar on palate as well. Tannins appreciable. Better w food. Night n day difference between the two, as expected. Interesting drink.

  • Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Carmenère, Cabernet Sauvignon.
Dark purple. Strong smoky wood in the first nose, followed by a complicated strong bouquet of lots of bbq smoke, melt licorice candies, dry scorched earth, incense of blackberry jam and plum's freshness, which ended with savory smoke. Savory and robust entry, potent and full-bodied, mouth-filling tannin not attacking, not really smooth and a bit too savory, with black fruits like roasted plum and blackberry and smoke, some truffles. Attack at the back of throat in the medium to long finish, got high alcohol as 2003, with juicy black fruit like plums, obvious smoked wood and traces of leather.
Real solid robust St Emilion like Castillon. Could be less savory so more balanced and smoother, but really good already. Noble smoky wine! Went really well with red meat exactly because of the unbalanced savoury. So if it scores as a food wine, it ll be significantly higher. It was worth 24 pounds.
