Tasted blind alongside Right Bank Bordeaux as well as other bottles of Merlot from old and new world producers. This was a clear (if surprising) WOTN. KF is known for outstanding Chenin but this merlot is a beautiful old world style espression in the glass - primaries of dark fruits that are at ideal ripeness indicative of quality berry selection. Secondaries of leather, pencil lead, coffee and subtle oak softened tannin. It effectively out-Pomeroled the 2010 Grand Cru Pomerol! Value can’t be better! Drink now - 2025.
