Peach and citrus more like a viognier in character. One of my guests found an off quality to the wine but it was served alongside $100 bottles of US chardonnay (Kistler, Kongsgaard) and Araujo SB. Definately served amongst some good company. I'll try another bottle in a week or so.

(BERTHIER Macon-Chaintre) 2005 Burgundy Dear Friends, I’m running at the moment so this is one of my infamous Blackberry offers but this was a chance at something that is so underpriced for 2005 I committed without hesitation. To be as brief as I can be, this is 2005 white Burgundy in its very best bargain clothes and it represents one of the finest expressions of terroir and vintage for a small sum you will find in 2005. In other words, this is a wine most of us would love to have in our cellar to pull out any night of the week for a variety of reasons - not the least of which is the good fortune of your dinner guests. This is a rare Burgundy (outside of Chablis) that does not go through malolactic and the wine is one of the purest expressions of Chardonnay you will find in a ripe vintage like 2005. The vineyard stock borders Pouilly-Fuisse and this overachiever will compliment your evening plans and not overwhelm with slathered new oak. Lovers of 2005 white Burgundy will find this wine very exciting as it maintains its nervy edge but also has the supple, mid-weight sap qualities of Puligny and literally breathes a freshness onto your dinner table. A great buy from a very small domaine. Pascal Berthier remains one of the lowest priced traditional producers of note out there but I can’t see him sticking with this pricing structure much longer - it’s just too low. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for a bargain treat in the most expensive vintage in recent memory. ONE SMALL SHIPMENT ONLY directly form the winery cellar with perfect provenance 2005 Domaine Pascal Berthier Macon-Chaintre Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Burg9889

Nice finish but should drink in one sitting. Seem to oxidize quicker than other wines

Has character -- wish I could be more articulate than that. Would buy again.
