Surprised by the mediocre reviews, though perhaps this has improved with time in bottle. Expressive and attractive aromas of tobacco, menthol, leather and rich black cherry. Mellow tannins and pronounced, persistent acidity. Flavours add some bitter dark chocolate. Excellent length. Drink now.

The wine consultant at a local private liquor store persuaded me to try this bottle which was on sale - $40 CAD off the regular price of $75 CAD. I was a little concerned about the deep discounting but she said the store owner had bought up the last several cases from Blasted Church and was just interested in moving the wines quickly. She suggested I try one and I bit - figuring it might be a QPR 'steal.' I blind taste tested it with deKerf so he had no information about the bottle's winey, vintage or cost. After drinking our way through the bottle over a couple of hours, we both came to the same conclusion - it was not worth the money - even at $35 CAD. It had a bitter aftertaste with high tannins that never mellowed even after lengthy decanting. I was hoping for so much more ... even planned to buy additional bottles if it had lived up to its name - Nectar of the Gods - but it was not a heavenly experience. Cheers. 🍷 db
