Retail $24. Heavy Bottle. Under DIAM3. Most people don't realize that Trebbiano, known as Ugni Blanc in France, is one of the most widely planted white wine grapes in the world. The reason is that is France, it is used for Cognac and Armagnac, and in Italy it is used for Balsamic Vinegar production. Rarely (particularly in Italy), is the grape made into a 100% varietal wine, so I was excited to try this Texas wine. Quite light in the glass, just a hint of straw with a slight green tinge and aromas of pink grapefruit and a mineral note. The palate leads with an austere note of wet rock, followed by rather intense citrus note, than crushed seashell and spice. Quite nice and better on day 2.
Ahh… nothing like a good refreshing chilled Trebbiano to pair with some summer fish dishes! Sourced from Bingham Family Winery of the Texas High Plains AVA, this white wine is full of tropical notes especially lime. Apples and pears will also round out the tasting profile. The acids are big and there is light oak on this one with the slightest bit of effervescence. The finish has a touch of rosemary for an added twist. This Trebbiano did win the double gold 2021 San Francisco International Wine Competition, so hats off for that. It is drinking well now, but it would not hurt to try another bottle in a couple of years and see what happens. Enjoy!

Chilled. Good. Similar to a Rosè. Light red.
