Retail $15. Under screw cap. Big Ass Heavy Bottle. 47% Merlot, 38% Malbec, 8% Zinfandel, 6% Petit Verdot, 1% Syrah. This is the third of the four new Knotty Vines from Rodney Strong, and it might be the best of the lot (I still need to try the Cab). Medium garnet color, laden with fruit in the glass (blackberry, plum, black cherry), along with some mocha and baking spice. The palate is fairly rich and balanced between fruit, tartness/acidity, and some soft tannins on the finish. This will probably sell in the $10-12 range on the supermarket shelf and that might be a steal.
