NobleRottersSydney - Cabernet & blends (Fix, St James, Sydney): {cork, 13.5%} [Geoffrey] The old diamond label wine – a blast from the past! Although, perhaps not so much a blast as a moan. Or possibly a death rattle. Aged nose, with a dirty mud and resin aroma. Palate is still earthy, not quite as bad as feared. Like an ancient Beaujolais. Now light in weight, with no structure left – nor fruit really – just an increasing volatility. Not worth drinking.

decanted for about an hour. very deep purple with lots of body. aromas of coffee and chocolate and mint. very different beef stew flavors on the tongue. I tasted pot roast and carrots. at first is was overpowering and a little unpleasant, but it has mellowed and become quite appealing with the fruit finally expressing themselves. I'll try the rest tomorrow nite and see how it changes. 83 pts
2nd night. very tasty. the strong beef stew flavors mellowed more to allow the fruit to show itself even more. 85 pts
