  • I found it to be really, really smooth for a zin. No bite to it. But my wife described it as grapey. Too each their own.

  • Decanted for 30 minutes prior to first glass and followed over an additional 5 hours. There was more sediment than expected so i suggest decanting and possibly using a screen but not necessary. The wine was consumed out of Grassl Liberte and paired with tomato and garlic. white broccoli, and red pizzas.

The color was a dark purple. The nose was of red and blue fruits and baking spices. The palate was of slightly over-ripe mixed berry pie focusing on black cherry, blueberry and blackberry with Asian 5 spice and undertones of licorice cocoa. The acidity is medium(+) and became more pronounced with extended exposure to air. The tannins were medium with a medium-full body. The wine is fruit forward and a pleasure to drink. A little more cellar time may assist the wine in becoming a trade bit more balanced but I don't think it will gain in much complexity with long-term cellaring.

  • Do you want restraint, and intellectual nuance in your wine tonight? Look elsewhere.

Did you just have a crappy day at work, after 400+ days at home, using a 12 inch laptop monitor to manage massive spreadsheets, and really want to rip your hair out and scream? Step right up and open a bottle of this! It’s a wild ride that straddles the fluctuating border between ripe Zinfandel and Port. It’s not a shrinking violet. It’s a violet that has been blasted with gamma rays, and gets ticked off if you misplace an apostrophe. Succulent blackberry fruit, graham cracker crumbs, and a drizzle of bourbon caramel are turned into liquid form. I had a bit of blue cheese with it before dinner, and it was a little bit of heaven. I decided to revisit after dinner, and now I want a pipe...and I don’t smoke. Yowza! This is really good, if you are into such things. I guess I am.
