Ordered by the glass at a restaurant, this was tasted from a bottle that had been freshly uncorked and poured. Medium-to-deep ruby in color, it serves up aromas of Montmorency cherries, raspberries, cardamom and lavender. Medium-bodied, tart, lightly oaked and without alcoholic heat (13%), it delivers flavors that mirror the nose. While light in weight, the tannins are coarse in texture. Solid on the mid-palate, it moves on to a medium-length finish that carries some tannic grip. While this wine is serviceable and has no major flaws, it is somewhat unidimensional and quite angular. Drink now-2026.

Don't expect much of this simple Bourgogne and it will be just fine. Better on the second day when it's softer and rounder. Fruit is subdued and takes a backseat. Alcohol is a tad rough is my only criticism. It's typical Bouchard Bourgogne. Lacks inspiration and clarity, but it's drinkable and enjoyable particularly when accompanied by food. Too bad America doesn't import more from other producers at this price point. America needs good red Bourgogne.

Burgundy nose, medium bodied lacking broad or fresh fruit, drier than expected, herby and woody although one EU seller says only 5% oak. Just okay.
