  • 50 base points + color=5/5; nose= 10/15; flavor&finish= 12/20; overall= 8/10.
Pop and pour with about 45 mins in the glass. Deep, rich maroon color. Thick, slow legs. Nose is expressive and rich (sandalwood, plum, roses). The initial taste seems almost raisiny, but that goes away and leaves a well-balanced, fullbodied wine. Good ripe fruit (maybe a little too sweet, but not fruit-bomb style). The tannins are a wonderful accent which cuts into the sweetness of the fruit. A little leather and earth on the finish, which is medium long. Good bottle.

  • Blackberry and a hint of cassis on the nose. Blackberry, blueberry followed by a little vanilla. Finishes with black tea, cedar. Great value.

  • This is just ridiculous for the price. Paid £4.49 for this, which in todays terms is virtually free. Deep, inky black apperance. On the nose an intense mix of something that I wouldn't describe as dark fruit, but more an earthy, dry vegetation flavour. It smells like there are dry twigs and scorched soil in there. It conjures up images of the land in the south of France. A bit of alcohol at first on the nose, but over time this blows off. Taste: well rounded, tangy, some rustic tannins there. A food wine for sure, but one that is alluringly different and at this price you would be a fool not to try it. Overall good, although for the price it leaps up there into a must buy category. Perfect for BBQ, stews, cheeses. Give it a go if you can find it.
