  • Deep yellow color, not at all advanced for a 28 year old wine. Spectacularly complex aromas-petrol, honey, botanicals, brown spice, and orange peel. Light weight, elegant feel, and not too sweet at all-I'd describe it as off dry rather than anywhere near dessert wine sweetness. Succulent citrus, very light botrytis, and soil with a totally winning interplay of sweet and sour elements. This bottle was a fantastic accompaniment to an unsweetened custard fruit tart that featured a twist of lemon in the custard. It should have no problem reaching its 50th birthday in great style.

  • #15-95, 7% abv. This bottle isn't as good as I remember this wine being many years ago. It's still very delicious but it doesn't have that extra level there. Petrol-dominated nose with some light fruit tones and plenty of minerality. On the palate, this is very elegant and light for a GKA, but that's not to say it doesn't have complexity here. The sweetness is very well integrated with the acidity, and while there isn't that much fruit left, this has plenty of minerality to keep things interesting. Slightly creamy texture.

  • Glass: Zalto Universal
Popped and poured, drunk over three days. Clear, deep golden color. Clean, medium+ intense, developing nose. Lots of Amalfi citrus, apricot, crushed stones, fine vanilla. Fresh, dense and youthful.
Sweet, high, racy, perfectly integrated acidity. Only 7% abv. Very mineral, wonderful ripe, sweet yellow stone fruit, some herbs. Fresh, wonderful balance, juicy. Very long finish that last at least a minute. At its full peak, but will stay there probably for another decade. 93-94

  • #15-95, 7% abv. Greenish tinge. Boy this is an electric bottle of Auslese. A modest hint of petrol on the nose, followed by ripe apricots, pineapple, and golden apples. The palate is quite sweet, with lots of tart apple flavour (this time, veering towards granny smith). Very concentrated, this has fruit and mineral extract turned up to 11. Fabulous intensity and concentration. No signs of deterioration, and a long, long road ahead, though this is so delicious now, I'm seriously considering pulling my other bottles for near-term consumption.

  • Bad luck for this beautiful wine; fully overshadowed by its Grosser Ring (Auction) BJS Goldkapsel sister also on the table. Seems like the Auction cuvee magnifies everything present in this wine. Excellent balance between sweetness and acidity, but sharper, less voluptuous. See tasting note of Ary below for further details, although I can't confirm the 'jeruk nipis', which I understand is a small Indonesian lime variety... I also 'found' peach, banana, apricot, almonds (nougat), macaroons, green apple and a nice touch of metallic minerality.
