Served in Riedel Performance Pinot Noir. Enjoyable, classic Pinot noir from Burgundy village appellation. On the nose you can find some dark fruits, herbs, and a interesting minerality. On the palate, you have the elegance from Volnay but it starts developing some character and weight from a good terroir. Not overly complex, but is shows a good balance between aromas, acidity, minerality, and the strength from the hot 2008 vintage. You can feel the traditional wine making, as it is neither infused nor too much extracted. Unfortunately my only bottle, otherwise I would wait 1-2 more years before pulling a cork again, thinking it would gain more depth from the terroir and elegance. Well recommended for the price tag.

First Volnay and its so good. Its smooth, sophisticated. One of the best pinot noir wines we ever tasted (its 2022 and we are just beginning to explore burgundy so hopefully better pinots to come?) Its got everything, balance, great fruits, acidity, tannins, terroir but its so subtle, its not in your face at all. Im writing this the day after we drank it.
