Heater week; 3/26/2023-4/3/2023 (Chicago, IL): Hollowing out, but showing raisinated notes, as well as a good amount of bitter oak. Par for the course for Quilceda Creek, of course.
At Yans for dinner, traded a pour of my wine for a pour of this, nose of earthy, Bordeaux stink, black berry, and black currents, same on the palate, medium body, lovely fruit but not mouth filling, soft fruit that lacked power and concentration, almost elegant, touch simple, especially when compared to the magnum of 2004 Montagia I was enjoying with Alex, if you cellar any 1997 vintage, you should immediately open and enjoy them as they all peaked about five years ago and are rapidly sliding down hill now in my opinion, tasty, and a medium finish.

RussK. Dinner at Phil's. The WOTN at the beginning of the evening, tying for 1 of the night at the end of the evening. Tasted of French oak. Mature, elegant, soft black current thing in the finish. 91+

Dark cherry, subtle chocolate notes, woody but leading to bitter oily walnut notes. This wine is done.
