Blind Dinner at The Bristol (Chicago, IL): Served blind. Another cabernet that threw me off (it's hard when the green herbaceous notes aren't prominent!). The nose initially had an odd tomato aroma, but that seemed to blow off in the glass. The palate definitely shows some oak use, but it has definitely integrated very well. This seems to have come from a warmer clime or year, thanks to the rich black fruit, but whether it's old or new world, I've no clue.

Redfruit, boysenberry, dark earth, dried mushrooms, hints of decomposing leaves. Could benefit from more time and has the acidity and fruit to support further aging. Lacks subtlety and depth of secondary notes which may yet come with time. I found the back half of the palate to be somewhat dry.
