Community Tasting Notes (2)

  • Further to Jan 8, '22: One year later, this is better--more fruit nose, richer fruit and mouthfeel. Bump this up to Notable+ (at its original price; I think price has increased in the meantime).

  • Bought 4b for CAD 13+/b (reflects 5% mixed case discount; add 15% tax) from a Lower Mainland chain last week; this is # 2. Screwcap. After enjoying the Marlborough, let's try the less expensive Hawke's Bay. Light green-gold; some citrus and gooseberry, some salinity; mild gooseberry, salinity, good mouthfeel. Held well at 24h and 48h--perhaps more salinity, less fruit. Tasty and enjoyable, perhaps preferable for those tiring of the Marl big fruit. Worth a try with raw shellfish? My evaluation (see earlier posts for my 4-category, non-point rating system): This is notable when considering quality, age, and price in the BCLDB environment (high taxes, highly regulated and protected).
