  • Lourd et alcooleux, pas aimé du tout!

  • Took a moment to open up. Definitely took time as it was too cold initially. Smooth texture and great one it had time.

  • Nice, inoffensive grenache-heavy everyday drinker. Cherry, raspberry, strawberry, and herbs on the palate. Fine for the price, but nothing exciting.

  • My final bottle's notes:

    Ruby red in the glass.

The nose first hit me with chocolate, then raspberries. There's a spicy loaminess and candied violets to it.
The palate on first pour is smooth from the start to a leather-pepper finish, and has blueberry, violet, and raspberry notes throughout. Milk chocolate is present as well.
Clean and balanced until the ending, which lingers long with a slight bitter note.

I have thus far enjoyed the 7 bottles I bought (this last has 4 more glasses in it yet to drink). Although they never crossed into CT "excellent" territory, they were solid and dependable despite purchasing from different stores. While less robust than most Gigondas I've had, all notes were in the right place. It was a competent table wine as well as enjoyable on its own.

    Day 2
It held up well, if a bit softer.

  • It's been a couple months since my last bottle, so let's see how time has treated this inexpensive Gigondas.

    First glass, no decant:
There's a slight mustiness on the nose with hints of woodsy fruits. Subdued raspberry, blueberry, and cherry on the palate, in that order. Tannins have melted nearly all away. Ends with a slight acidic cherry lift with a bit of herbaceous tobacco tar.
Everything seems to be there, but as susurrations. This needs a little time to open up, but I do like what I'm getting.

Second glass a couple hours later:
It has opened up, but -as I've mentioned in prior uncorkings- this was never a robust Gigondas to begin with. Still, it is very good and has held up well despite some cellar changes over the past year. This is a great bottle for the price.

    Day 2:

Fading and with a mushroom funk becoming evident, but still pleasant.
