Nose: A little light a faint with the usual youthful cognac elements, and spirity nervousness. Flowers, estery, some fruit. Seems rather candied and almost a caramel quality. Pears, peaches, grapes, bananas, vanilla, and a spot of alcohol. Let's see what happens on the palate.
Palate: Light, simple, and integrated wood. Thickened vaguely-sweet water with some fruity overtones. Honey, peach jam, daffodills and peonies. Orange, cinnamon, a hint of ginger, light oak, which provides some structure, but let's not kid ourselves, this is weak sauce.
Finish: I'm sure that you can imagine how this goes. Pleasant enough, and a sort of an echo of a shadow, but nothing bold or distinct. Provides a nice and sweetly simple entry, but it's time to move on.

Nice butterscotch nose with a hint of orange. A bit spirity. Quite spicy, light toffee flavour, modest length, and good levels of refinement - a decent VSOP.

Cognac and Armagnac masterclass (LIWSF, London): This has a smooth nose with some apricot and tropical fruit and is actually quite buttery. On the palate, it’s a pretty straightforward cognac: fairly light and elegant, with a blast of spirit.

Smooth and sweet. Stylish, but not for armagnac lovers who want a bit of bight!
