  • As a good member of cellar tracker I look up my bottles beforehand to see what all of you had to say about them, but curiously the 2016 vintage was absent (I added it). So I went on Decero's web site which has a dossier on their portofolio of petit verdot mini-ediciones for many years, but not 2016. A slightly ominous omission.
Then I saw that 2016 is not a good year for Argentinian wines generally.
Still Decero bottled it, though also hid it, so how bad could it be?
It had to be at least drinkable. Wrong.
I am usually generous (probably too generous) with my grading system, but this was not a pleasant experience.
Dusty, acidic. So acidic that it ruins your palate for anything else afterwards....
I recall drinking 1984 Bordeaux's Sherry Lehman had (not too honestly) sold in the early 1990s to unsuspecting folks like me... A Cheval Blanc, and other great names for $10! So I got a bunch and they tasted vile.
But at least they were on sale. Decero made me pay full price for their plonk.
Not sure how much detail you might want, I'll just conclude with a warning (for you the reader): stay away! And a question for Decero: why bottle and sell your 2016 crop as petit verdot mini ediciones? You are hurting your name and reputation.
As Bob Dylan sung, "I felt I'd been had!"
