-- popped and poured on Day 1; revisited on Day 4 -- -- -- tasted non-blind -- -- 80% Baga, 20% Touriga Nacional --
NOSE: wet cement; blackberries; hints of red licorice and flowers; a bit high-toned; has a very Cab. - like aromatics.
BODY: medium-light bodied.
TASTE: rustic, with medium-fine grained tannins; very faint hint of funk; light blackberries/plums; 12.5% alc. not noticeable; medium+ acidity; moreish; a legitimate Pinot Noir substitute, from a culinary perspective. Came across as a bit heavier on Day 4 than it was on Day 1, but still excellent. Will likely buy again.

I like this wine. I don’t have much experience with Portuguese table wines. This one smells a bit like right- bank Bordeaux on the nose- spice, white pepper, blackberry all come through. No real oak character, which is the first clue that something is different. On the palate, medium-bodied. Acidity is high -another clue it ain’t Bordeaux. Tannins present but we’ll-integrated. For a wine in this price range, it over-performs and has a particularly long finish.
