Very muted. Alcohol stings in the nose. Some leathery aroma. Some kind of fruit hard candy. 4h decant did not help. On the contrary, it seemed more concentrated right out of the bottle.
Very high acidity, not integrated well. Medium tannins. Apart from that? Minor tertiary flavours.
I bought this wine cheap and it is teaching me a lesson. I did a lot better in the past with that kind of money.
Day 2, which equals a 26h decant: flat on the nose, softer on the palate, but still no meaningful flavours. Length: short.
50h after decanting: this would be an okay Rosso di Montalcino now. Still, nowhere near the BdM I tasted so far.
Not the most complex or long but shows tertiary flavors and is already drinking beautifully. Great example of traditional style BDM in an earlier accessible format.

Knurd family Christmas dinner 2022, paired with the braised brisket, chosen specifically because the tannins need this level of beef. Decanted this before serving the first course, at least an hour as we worked our way through. Rough and rustic but the brisket brought the cherries and leather to the forefront, just what I wanted from the pairing, which (and I quote) "tasted like winter". A- (90).

This was a really excellent young Brunello at a great price from Garagiste of $28+.

Nice sweet fruited cherry, a hint of tar, smooth tannin. An easy drinking vintage with nice early on vintage characteristics
