First bottle from a case. Light color. Fruit forward (red berries) but not “fruity” because there’s also a bitter edge. Bit of heat in the nose. I’m not detecting tannins. Length is okay but again I feel the alcohol is making its presence felt a little too much. To me this is like a very good Bourgogne-level wine. Well worth the $40/bottle. Label says 13.5% alcohol.

My third time tasting a Pierre Guillemot Burgundy. I decanted, and let it breathe for three hours. It was served at a birthday dinner along with Rib Eye Steaks and grilled Salmon. The 2019 is surprisingly approachable for a young wine. It is light and fruity, it has a pleasant aroma, and the taste of crushed berries. A nice wine, but not as good the 2017.

Nice balance of strong red fruit / cherry on the nose and some juiciness counterweighted with rustic, plum, fleshy character. Enjoyed discovering at a dinner and will keep a look out for more.

Group tasted each of Guillemot’s 2019s and this came out top tier. I think it drank better by itself the next week…the smoothest and least acidic of the bunch. Easy drinking.
