  • Jean Luc & Paul Aegerter, Corton-Vergennes, Grand Cru, 2019: Kudos to IDS and Dr Ralph Madeb for producing this first kosher Grand Cru Bourgogne since the Château de La Tour Clos Vougeot 2004! Surprisingly approachable on opening, it went mute a few hours later. Deep ruby, with on the nose freshly picked red cherries, ripe strawberries, lavender, moss, tilled earth, dried mushrooms and a hint of menthol. Medium-plus in body, with great intensity on the palate, showing layers of red fruits, juicy red cherries, ripe red currants, wild strawberries followed by rose water, dried mushrooms, loamy dirt, earthy minerals, with medium-plus, well-integrated acidity as well as notes of mint and umami white truffle with tight, grainy tannins lingering long on the elegant finish. Absolutely gorgeous wine. 13% Abv. Drink 2029-2038, likely longer. 95
