Initial nose had a bit of crushed oyster shells, creosote, oak dominant with crushed blueberries, graphite, black cherry liquer, very unique and as I remembered for my tasting last summer
Just a lovely mouth feel flows elegantly from front to back, but the fruit somewhat muted, but no hard edges from tannins or acid surprisingly more open than expected given the terroir and the vintage a bit hot from the high alcohol content particularly at the front of the palate.
At 2 hr, the nose was a 95 the palate was a 93 give it another hour of air. Even at this stage with two hours of air I would not hesitate to open another bottle with a decant I don’t think these are going to be long-agers like 2016 or 2018.
Drank the rest over two more hrs, blueberries came through on the palate, but other no improvement with more air.

2021 Napa - June 9-12: This was our favorite of the 2017s, more red fruit than Aurora and Coyote Ridge, but less structure and tannins. Still, this will need a few years to shed its baby fat. I’m excited to see where this one goes!
