Whats not to like in this wine? Fresh red fruit with some citrus oils and floral notes; beautiful balance with good depth. Improved over 3 hours. Better in another 3 years, but super tasty now.

Oregon Pinots (and other wines): medium-dark yet translucent ruby in the glass. the nose is initially dominated by red and black fruits, but slowly earthy and spicy notes come forth to round out the bouquet. medium-bodied in the mouth, there is fresh brightness to the fruit that mellows going thru the palate as spices, mineral touches and dusty tannins gain some prominence toward the savoury finish that still rings fruity.
it seems to be developing quite nicely, but is still wanting of some bottle age. there is very good balance and plenty of fruit and structure, so there's a good upside potential here.

Best of the Best of Oregon (K&L Wine Merchant - San Francisco): Aromas of a more intense forest funk but it knows how to walk properly (some of it blows away with time), once the funk goes away, the fruits clear up to become more like dark cherries with a touch of plums and red roses.
The palate was giving red cherries and a soft touch of plums, reflecting the palate completely. The funk is gentle and in the background, giving way to river stones and gentle earth.
This was more “classic” to me in a sense that this seemed more familiar to me, like a Pinot from then north coast. Compared to the other Pinots this was served next to, this slightly underperformed for its price point. Maybe this needs more air time.

Better than most California Pinot but still a bit disappointing; pleasant and easy to drink but not much depth to it; simple wine
