So typical of the Gigondas winemaking style: Intense berry fruit, almost like drinking berry jam, with some bacon in the taste. No oak. Relatively high alcohol. While somewhat straightforward and simple, it's lusciously enjoyable. Drinking well now but should hold together for another 5 years or more.
(5/5/2021) Terrific stuff, as are the majority of Gigondas. Plenty of spice and intensity. Gigondas is the poor wine drinker's Châteauneuf-du-Pape which, compared the wine quality of the other nearby southern Rhône AOPs, is vastly overpriced. A 70% grenache, 20% syrah, 10% mourvèdre blend. Super value!
