Retail $45. 100% Pinot Noir. Back in 2011, I bought six bottles from Wine Library (yeah, *that* Wine Library) for less than $20/bottle. I thought it was a steal at the time but now? I wish I had bought more. Sure, there is a stewed note on the nose, but there is some ripe red berry fruit, plenty of barnyard, and interesting vegetal and herbal notes: celery, basil, thyme. Rich on the palate, really rich with really surprisingly intense flavors and a sweetness that I was not expecting. At. All. Whoa. I am going to have to bump this up a notch. I am ecstatic that I have another three bottles. Deserves another Whoa.
Retail $45. 100% Pinot Noir. I bought a half a case of this wine back in 2011 on sale for the mere price of roughly $20/bottle. I popped the first in 2104 and it was stellar. This was the second we opened, some six years later. It might be even better. The nose is slightly muted with just a hint of being stewed, but it is also rich with dark berry fruit, mint, and some tobacco. The palate is close to stunning rich fruit (in a reserved Burgundian way), near-perfectly balanced acidity, and a depth of flavors that one would expect from "higher-level" Burgundies. Whoa. And then some. thedrunkencyclist.com

Not surprised to see notes from others about this wine being oxidized. This bottle fit the bill, though only mildly so; it was drinkable. I originally found so many of these O5s to seem oxidized but have discovered the issue to be more about torrefaction as a widespread fault among the lesser vineyard wines. Kinda like the “greenies” issue with ‘04s. But this bottle’s issue is indeed oxidation. Surprising in light of the significant sediment staining along the entire length of the bottle. No reason this shouldn’t still be a solid quality wine. Ended up blending it with a blowsy Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot and they each made the other a better wine. “The Mad Blender” strikes again!

Opened 2 flawed bottles on Christmas Day. After having 2 extremely enjoyable bottles back in 2012-2013 this is a bit disappointing to find the wines quite oxidized. The corks were in cook shape but the wines had completely failed. Unfortunate.
