  • N: earthy, meaty
T: brambly, spice, dark fruit, black cherry, pepper. Opened up to offer more fruit, good complexity and balance. Wonderful wine.

  • Seems somewhat closed at this time. The nose not giving away very much.
Consistent with previous note albeit a little less spicy and somewhat closed.
    Wait another year or two.

  • Dark ruby.
Needs some time in the glass to fully open up, but when it does, it's a true pleasure; black cherries, raspberries and some apple kernel.
Very rich mouthfeel. Very true to its terroir but at the same time immensely powerful and spicy. There is a characteristic cherrystone bitterness to the taste that perfectly balances the rich sweetness from the fruit. Very soft and integrated tannins for a wine so young. The acidity is right where it should be.
My local retailer coined this as a mini-brunello. I have to disagree, this is a true rosso albeit a very powerful one. Doesn't have the complexity of a BdM, but it's classes above your garden variety rosso.
    Drink now-2012
