I bought this wine by mistake -- it's the second wine of the chateau I was looking for -- and I paid $20 for it. It seems like a hard sell at that price. It is quite tannic, and so might improve with a little more time in the cellar, but for the moment it is dominated by a clothy taste that I don't much like, and it is otherwise somewhat closed and monolithic.
We have been trying a range of inexpensive Bordeaux recently, and there are many at this price that provide a lot more pleasure -- Chateau Montpezat Cuvee Compostelle, for instance, or Chateau de Francs Les Cerisiers, both if which are available for less than the Moulin Haut Villars. Or, for slightly more money, you can find bottles that offer a huge step up in quality -- Chateau Capbern or Chateau Joanin Becot, for two.
