  • Several Coravin pours. Not sure what the mix of grapes in this blend are but I would guess some Cab Franc and Pinot Noir are among them. But if my translation of the producer’s website is correct, this is actually 100% Côt, the local name (and perhaps the original name) for a red grape that is actually Malbec. It is a medium to dark ruby-crimson. The nose is floral, slightly spicy and red berry fruited. The palate has distinct under-ripe red berry and plum flavors, all slightly tart. There is little tannin and plenty of acidity. It definitely shows as a cool climate wine. I didn’t get the raisin and funk that the previous taster noted. Pleasant if unusual wine though. Good with any manner of strong flavored food.

  • The most interesting red we've had in a while (granted, there was a month and a half of plonk in MVY). Beach plum, raisins, a bit floral on the nose. On opening, a good amount of pleasing funk that receded after a couple hours open. Medium-bodied, with strong fruit balanced by acidity. Not exactly juicy and round, but definitely rich, full, and not at all austere. Went splendidly with the heavily spiced Persian chicken that it accompanied. "Dionysus!" says V.
