(Tasted with a cold, so not completely reliable nose) Fresh, red fruit in the direction of red currants and violets on the nose. With some time some mustier notes on the mushroom spectrum. There is a slight alcoholic sting that might be attributed to the 14,5% of alcohol.
In the mouth there is subdued fruit and a very slender body with a pronounced acidity throughout. Very grippy, but not unpleasant tannins. The most tannic Colline Novaresi I’ve tasted.
Left wondering whether there is enough fruit to outlive the massive onslaught of acid and tannins in the long run. Guess we will find out in 5-10 years! I love Cantalupo’s wines, but this seems somewhat underwhelming compared to their only slightly more expensive single vineyard Ghemmes.
