Decanted for an hour. Pours purple-garnet. Still tight, but showing nice floral notes and a light minerality on the nose. Palate is also floral, red fruit, sweet oak, and an earthy finish. Medium + body, medium + tannin, medium + acidity. Well balanced, but needs time. Gonna give the next bottle 3-5 years.

Clear deep purple; clean medium plus nose of blueberries, brambleberries, barnyard and vanilla; dry; medium plus acidity; medium tannins; high alcohol; medium plus body; medium plus to pronounced flavour intensity; palate is fruity with addition of black licorice; medium plus finish; drink now or in a few years; a little hotter and one dimensional than our last bottle

Halos de Jupiter's 2019 Gigondas is an opaque crimson blend of 85% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre and 5% Syrah that is loaded with dark bramble fruits, Provençal herbs, smoked meat, black pepper and roasted almonds. Medium-to-full-bodied, fresh, softly oaked and with nicely integrated alcohol (despite being listed as 15%), it wraps its flavors with plentiful tannins that still carry a fair amount of grip. Solid on the mid-palate and lengthy on the back end, this is an impressive reflection of the appellation and vintage. Another year or two in the cellar will be beneficial. If you can't resist popping the cork now, give it plenty of air. Drink 2024-2034.
