Thursday hangout at Domaine (Chicago, IL): Quite an alluring nose with some fruit and a little bit of oak as well. The palate is less fruit forward and feels quite stern, especially for what I would expect to be a fruit-driven red wine vintage. A little charmless and grainy; I think Forey tends to do disproportionately better at the higher end.

The black cherry fruit, around which this wine is built is just so tasty. It is a wine that has plenty of purple flower nuance and a texture of velvet. There's excellent depth and some mineral under the flesh. Lovely stuff.

Refreshing acidity with delicious fruit make this wine a winner. Enough tannins to enjoy it with a light meal. Better on second nite.
