Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • One of inexpensive wines we bought on a whim from Winebid with no expectations.

Medium garnet and skewing more towards brick. Stewed cherries with lots of green notes on the nose. Light bodied, dry, and medium high acidity. Fresh cherries, dried strawberries, and tart cranberries start off the palate. Some vanilla and herbs show up on the mid-palate. Well integrated strong and grippy tannins coat the mouth. Finish is moderate in length with black pepper, leather, and a bit of sour cherry.

I don’t think this wine was meant to be cellared for this long. It feels like it should have been consumed 5-10 years ago. While it may be fading away, there is still lot here that is enjoyable and was well worth the experiment. Paired well with some mild cheeses. There is part of me that would have loved to try this wine when it was new since these days a Napa Cab that is only 13.2% abv is unheard of.
