Been curious to try this wine for awhile. Apparently it is just across the Pomerol border, on a hillside overlooking Pomerol royalty. Got a case of this in an online auction cheaper than the current release - nice score. This is eight years past release now and tastes like it's barely aged at all. It still has rich primary fruit with a plush, fleshy presence and an almost saucy intensity of dark berries. It is 70% merlot and 30% cabernet franc but the flavors are very deep and ripe and I'm hard-pressed to discern the franc influence except in the somewhat clenched structure it starts out with. There are firm tannins here but the fruit is so saturating they are kept in the background. Giving the fruit somewhat more competition is the oak, which adds a whole lot of cedar seasoning. There are some other interesting notes underneath trying to make their way to the surface, a bit of gravel and some intriguing funky game aromatics, but most everything here is still very, very young and primary.

Although considerably passed ideal consumption window it was still amenable.

Jammy and more fruit forward than last bottle. Good showing for the last bottle. The one before this was best (on 8/27/11).

Good wine, full body and pleasant, but I expected more after reading the reviews.
