  • Still inky dark. Brambly primary fruit faded, but cedary, graphite (albeit toned-down by now) oak very much evident. Good acidic left. Yet another example of an 2001 Okanagan red with long life. Who knows, maybe a few more years of aging may reveal what's behind the oak but i doubt it.

  • Clear ruby core of medium intensity out to a very slightly browning edge showing some maturity. Clean nose of tar, black current, black cherry, smoke and some charcoal of medium intensity. Dry with medium plus acid, medium body, tannin and medium plus alcohol. Medium intensity flavours of plum, cherry, roasted pepper, and vanilla. The finish is a bit warm from the alcohol but is medium in length with the ripe fruit and vanilla continuing. Well made and just reaching maturity (this bottle was purchased at release and kept in excellent storage conditions). Will be on the plateau for at least another 3-5 years.

  • BC (Canada) retrospective (Sharon & Guy's): Clear dark core of moderate intensity - this was a decanted wine due to sediment. Clean but simple nose of oak and dark fruit - alcohol noted on the nose as well. Full body, moderate acid and tannin but high alcohol on the palate. Flavours are only moderate and are mostly smoky oak and vanilla overwhelming the dark fruit. The finish is moderate with the oak predominating along with heat from the high alcohol content. Much better a few years ago. Simple and over oaked/processed.
