  Sadly this only got a 2 hour decant and probably needed a lot more. Dark dense fruits nicely concentrated with a chiseled intensity this was still wound up and only giving a peak of what it has to offer. Amazing material here with some pretty floral elements and finely built, but needs time to strut its full self. Opened along side a 2010 Dominus that was singing, showing the clear benefits of cellar age. This will be fantastic, just let it sleep for now.

  Spring Break in Napa -- Who Needs Cancun?; 3/22/2024-4/27/2024 (Oakville, St. Helena, Calistoga): Had at a restaurant, decanted about half an hour before we sat down for the main event. Most I can recall us spending on a bottle by a mile. Worth it, every penny. Wow.
  
  Deeply elegant with an uncanny blend of florals with maroon fruit. So complex. Elements so well knitted they come to you in waves and intensity. You need time to fully comprehend this wine, to get your head around it. It unfurled throughout our evening and every moment was better than the last. The tertiary notes only further heightened the experience of this wine as they started showing through. This is one of those imaginary wines that (formerly) exists only in the imagination as a potential apex of the form.
  
  So sad that the vineyard is being replanted and has a while left before it comes back online. Made it all the easier to justify getting this bottle so to have had the opportunity to try an early iteration of it! 99

  As others have noted, this is going to be a phenomenal wine. But it is WAAAYYYYYYY too young to drink right now. Saw it on a local restaurant list for a price that was too good to pass up so took a stab at it while my bottles sleep. No rating or detailed notes but it was finally starting to open up by day 3 when the fruit was able to push through the wall of tannins. I realize that this 'TN' is not very helpful in terms of describing the actual wine/flavor profile.....but hopefully you'll find it useful the next time you're tempted to pop one over the next 8 years. Just don't do it. Put the bottle down and walk away. You can thank my later ;)

  No notes and only fleeting impressions as it was an epic night with both old friends and new before the Chateau Angelus dinner at Anhelo in downtown Phoenix tonight (8/31). All wines were split between 6.25 of us and unless noted, minimal decant (max 30 minutes).
  
  Was lucky enough to taste in Napa with Nigel last year- and absolutely loved this wine from barrel. Getting to try this now in bottle- it’s a knockout. Full stop. Epic wine.

  An Amazing Arizona Tasting: 30 min decant - This wine needed more air and more age....don't get me wrong, it tastes great now, but this is another wine that you know will reward patience! Not sure how he does it, but Nigel crafts some damn good wine, and this is no exception!
  
  Nose was perfumed with lots of dark fruit and some cherry and chocolate notes with hints of bramble, cedar and spice. Palate shows tons of structure (I know I sound like a broken record, but you can actually taste the layers of fruit and secondary flavors - remarkable structure!), with black and purple fruit, some red fruit and some cocoa dust, with flavors of earth, tree bark, coffee and tobacco lurking in the background and periodically making their presence known! With some additional age, the secondary flavors should be more prevalent and compliment the rich core of fruit. A wine built for the long haul....can't wait to taste this in the future....makes you wish time travel was possible! 95+ to 96 today, higher tomorrow!
