At first the sour cherry notes were a bit much, but the fruit sweetened and filled out, a higher acid midbodied Volnay. Good fruit, some earth, not super complex, but went well with food and Betsy liked, so I'm happy. B/B+

This feels like a completely different wine. Bottle variation? Definitely. Proving once again that there are no good wines, there are only good bottles. Very aromatic, herbs de Provence, gamey, bloody, briny. On the palate it is savory with some sweetness from the fruit, red fruit. I feel notes of rusted copper, very mineral. This screams Cotes de Beaune. Tannins have vanished. Palate is lean. Finish is bright and of mid length. Great bottle! Pairing: Rabo Encendido. A- 91pts

(Domaine Darviot-Perrin Volnay 1er Cru La Gigotte) Medium bricking red color with clear meniscus; nice mature nose of strawberry, tobacco, cranberry and sous bois; backward and tight on the palate in contrast to the giving nose, tart red fruit with high acidity; medium finish

Tart 93 acids (which I like!), expressive red fruit, gamebird, a pleasant little green/juniper note. Fully mature, ready. B+

Overripe nose. Underripe palate. Nose of CdP. Strange. This didn't age very gracefully. Hope the next bottle is better. (87PTS)
