Deeply colored, intense stuff, still quite young with fruit being drowned out by tannins. A touch of greenness, probably from the Cabernet Franc in the blend. In some ways like a Lalande-de-Pomerol, though fatter; in others almost like Malbec. My score is based on the wine's future, not on its drinkability today. 81% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc, 3% Malbec, 3% Petit Verdot. A Right Bank blend for the future.

Very young, primary fruit and oak elements. Drank 2/3 of bottle at restaurant with awesome prime cheeseburger, brought remainder home. Will improve with 2-3 years bottle age to settle in.

Black fruit in front of vanilla and cola. Hot, alcohol on the finish. Overall blown-out, round, flabby feel. Might be because I'm coming off two dense, balanced, structured Nebbiolo wines but my first thought was _oh yeah, this is why Miles hated merlot_. I like WA Merlot and honestly think I could find one I like at about 1/3 of the price... Columbia Crest's offerings come to mind.
