  • 1986/2019/2020. i have little experience with this estate, except for the 24 bottles of their 2018 2nd wine, Blason d’Issan, which was a fantastic value and very enjoyable. At PnP, the 1986 is showing some primary fruit but clearly beyond its crescendo but still enjoyable. a bit thin, fully resolved tannins. dark berries and cassis quite noticeable. a bit of bricking. enjoyable yet noticeably different stylistically from a typical bordeaux or even a margaux. 2019 and 2020 exhibit the same fruit profile, 2019 coming across lighter, less tannins and not much on the nose. 2020 offers quite a pleasing olfactory experience and more density and concentration of fruit. perhaps the 2019 is shutting down, or it is a vintage variation? time will tell. currently decanting the 19/20 and letting the 1986 slow ox in the wine fridge after a double decant to remove sediment (of which there was surprisingly little). will sample again in 2 hrs

  • Decanted 8hrs. Never a better example of why its such a good time to be buying and enjoying Bordeaux. I al ready had a few of these from Costco, and seeing this at TJ’s for about the same price of $59.99 had to get another one. Should a young Bord taste this good this young? As I state that please don’t think for a second that this was heavily manipulated or sculpted to win points. Fantastically aromatic with the pin point lightness on the palate that just screams one classy Margaux. Textbook black currant (which is cat nip to me) swirls with soil tones. Fresh, effortless, fantastic.

  • (Imported by Latitude Wines). From the great 2020 Bordeaux vintage. Rendement 36 hl/ha. Cabernet Sauvignon 70%. Merlot 30%. Elevage 50% new oak.
    ___________

Color: Dark ruby. But not quite opaque.

Nose: Pure black cassis fruit with a touch of mineral, black olive, and light graphite/pencil lead. Lovely and pure. Kiss of new oak. Bags of class here. And nice complexity for a young wine (more will come with age).

Pal: Medium-full body, but palette staining. Ripe, silky, fine tannins. Very good balance, but some raw oak resin and slightly dilute in the finish. 12.9% alc. (per website). Elegant, modern Margaux.

    92 pts: Now
    93-94 pts: Potential.
    Drink: 2024-2045 (from perfect storage).
Best drinking window: 2032-2038. This will harmonize and develop more complexity after 2029.

    Excellent value in Bordeaux.

  • Such a delicious tasting wine. Slight floral nose, waves of fruit flavours typical of a Cab , a great sweetness, mild tannins, good length. So well balanced and accessible so young. Not over powering but so seductive.
    What a well made Margaux.
