Community Tasting Notes (1) Avg Score: 90 points

  • Having just had the Sonoma County bottling from this producer and loving it, I had to try one of the single vineyard bottlings. Decanted for about an hour before drinking. Nose and flavor profile is exactly what you would expect from a RRV pinot, dark cherry, cinnamon/clove, and a touch of cola. At first, I was disappointed, I thought that for the additional money, this was not that much better than the Sonoma County stuff. Even with the decant, this didn't really show up until about 3 hours in. When it did open, it was fantastic stuff. Silky smooth plus a good bit of acidity to give it some structure. The flavors that were very fruit driven at first softened dramatically into that great clove, cinnamon, strawberry and cherry flavors that make the RRV pinots so distinct. Obviously this is still young, but if you have the patience to let it open up, you will not be disappointed. 90-91
