Community Tasting Notes (3)

  • This has a lovely earthy aroma on the nose, along with spiced fruits leaning towards the darker end of the spectrum. On the palate, it's evident how young the wine still is. Impressive fruit concentration with well integrated acidity providing freshness, and a swathe of firm but fine tannins. Based on this bottle, the wine is 3-5 years from maturity. Extremely impressive, and will only get better.

  • This is drinking very very well. Certainly on the dark fruit side of the spectrum in the aromas, augmented by some attractive forest floor notes. The palate has a broad-shouldered frame which its fruit fills out nicely. It's still a very youthful wine, but if you'd like to check in on how the '05s are doing at the lower end, this will provide a ringing endorsement for the vintage. Outstanding, wish I had bought much more.

  • Leans mostly towards the red fruit end of the spectrum, with some mineral inflection and a touch of citrus. Palate is medium in weight, but it's clear that this is closing down. There's some fruit there, but the overwhelming impression is that of a rather tart acidity. It's not piercing or unpleasant, but this wine simple needs time to round itself out. It's got a fair swathe of fine tannins to work through as well. The elements come together for a long finish for the pedigree with a good balance between the components. This should be put away for about 5 years, I'd guess. The second day only allowed it to close in on itself more.
