This is elegant, rather than being a Californian blockbuster. Initially there was quite a strong note of heavy oak char on the nose but that disappeared after 30 mins. This is like a Bordeaux, everything medium and very well balanced. Fine silky tannins, good freshness. There is some Californian ripeness here but it is restrained. Long and straightforward. Wait for 5 years and then enjoy over the following 20 to 30.
