  • Needs at least 2-4 hrs decant time. Excellent concentration, alot of smoke and lot's of chewey tannins at the end. Lots of smokey meaty flavors that build with time. Big tannins. Impressive.

Decanted overnight and very good the next day. Very concentrated withclassic Brunello flavors. Very good structure.

  • Spritzy again. Decant this for at least 2 hrs and it loses the spritz and integrates into a rich sexy Brunello.Very smokey on the nose.

  • There's that spritziness again. Not sure if it's a Lactic acid bacterial thing (a little secondary fermentation?) or not but it blows away after an hour or two. This has nice smokey tones and good deep fruit to it. Not quite the structure I remember with the first bottle. I'm going to let it decant for an hour. 92Pts.

After about 2 hrs in the decanter this tastes like steak and dark fruit on the open grille. It's pretty sexy. Good tannins and slightly grainy mouthfeel (probably some sediment too). I like this Brunello but you have to be patient with it. Decant for at least 3 hours to get at it's best side. Smokey meat and Rich sweet fruit. One of my favorite combinations. 92-93Pts.

After 3 hrs the fruit picks up. Sweet, beautiful fruit brings it up a knotch. Impressive concentration. Excellent QPR 93pts.

  • Right out of the bottle. Smoke in a glass, ripe fruit nice grippy tannins. Good first impression. Spritzy...don't know what that is but didn't bug me too much.
Spritziness died down after an hour of decanting and so did the smoke. This is very tasty.

Notes from the wine store where I bought it:

"Roberto Aglieta makes one of the finest Brunello’s I have tasted. We have purchased directly from Roberto enabling us to offer this outstanding wine at such a low price. Brunello’s usually take 10 to 20 years to mature but the truly exceptional 2001 vintage is showing amazingly well right now. Deep and rich in color, the finely nuanced, complex nose of cherry and blackberry is followed by a delicate core of ripe fruit that bursts onto the palate with exceptional elegance, purity and finesse. Silky, fine tannins frame the finish of this unforgettable, profound Brunello. Put a case of this great wine in your cellar and remember to save a few of the bottles for 10-15 years. It will be very hard to do! 95Pts."

I'm not quite ready to anoint it with 95pts yet but it's a solid 93pt Brunello to me and could move up in score in the futue. Very nice.
