Decanted 20 minutes or so before first taste, maybe still just a bit tight, but pretty ready to go. Poured a deep ruby purple. Nose of muddled black fruit and sagey underbrush, lots of black fruited goodness on the palate, maybe a little cigar leaf in there too, leading into a grippy but smooth finish with a hit of mouthwatering salinity. Perfect with steak at Peter Luger Las Vegas ($50 corkage).
How much is this wine again?? I paid $64 each. Crazy QPR. Hard, maybe impossible, to top this in the <$100 Napa cab category.
Offering even more profundity than when I last sampled this in April, the 2019 "standard" Cabernet from La Pelle is comprised of deeply pitched black/red raspberry fruit, chocolate, and plum notes; chewy and ripe, with a finish that is smoother than the power would first fool you into believing. Additional hits of black fresh filled soil add interest. The tannins rush in with deep cassis red and black raspberry, with a blueberry skin crescendo. A lot going on for an entry level Cabernet.

My first this label, minimal air. This is a serious wine with deep red and black fruits, forest floor, bay leaf, hint of anise with air. Dark cherries, currants, wet gravel. Deep, rich body, balance, and a long dry finish. I can’t recall other details, as it was the last wine of the night. Clearly a baby, but I’m now a fan
